Portuguese Association for Quality
José Eduardo de Figueiredo Soares (Aveiro, 1951) graduated in Electrotechnical Engineering (IST/UL) and postgraduated in Quality Engineering (UNL/ISQ), having also completed Upper Management Programs at AESE Business School and EDP/INSEAD, and the Advanced Training Program on Organizational Ethics (FCH/UCP). He is currently a PhD candidate at the Bioethics Institute of the Portuguese Catholic University.
Having started his professional activity as a Telecommunications Engineer (CTT Telecommunications Division), it was at EDP Energias de Portugal that he developed a large part of his professional career, there having held different technical, management and direction positions in the areas of Technology, Global Procurement and Suppliers’ Management, Corporate Quality Management, Education and Professional Training, and Corporate Sustainability. Between 2012 and 2018 he served as the EDP Group’s Ethics Ombudsman.
He is an honorary member and former chairman of the Board of the Portuguese Association for Quality (APQ).
He is an effective member of the Portuguese Engineers Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros), where, since 2013, is member elected to the Assembly of Representatives and where he maintains collaboration in the fields of Ethics and Professional Deontology.
He is a founding member of the Ethics Forum at Católica Porto Business School. Individually or in representation, he has integrated different institutions, technical commissions and working groups, both at national and international levels.
